Ohm64 and Native Instruments Traktor: DJ Heaven
April 28, 2010
After much study and consideration, I’ve made a MIDI Mapping for Native Instruments Traktor DJ software. Comprehensive control over all four decks. All the tweaky goodness that Traktor offers is now at your fingertips. Here’s a complete tutorial on getting it working and how to use it:
This is a “beta” release, so if there’s anything that doesn’t work right or there is an essential control I missed, drop me a line (comment here or in forum) and I’ll either tell you how to change it or roll it into the official release.
Download the files here for Mac and PC.

traktor is about to take over my ableton as the new way to dj without turntables — I love serato and when the bridge comes out then i will be loving the ableton serator marriage but this looks way more user friendly for simple dj work with the ability to get nasty with it!
Yeah, Traktor is really nice for DJing and mixing. For “original” content, Ableton seems like the way to go, as it’s more sophisticated.
I just have 8 decks in Ableton on my Xone 4D
I only use Traktor with coded vinyls, without it’s garbage
Have you created MIDI mapping for the block with Ableton??
Unfortunately, Ableton doesn’t support any third party creation of control surface scripts for Live, and they have not yet come through to do one for us. Native Instruments and Propellerheads do, however, so I’ve done maps for those for the Ohm64. When enough people try those, and I’m satisfied with those, I’ll do mappings for the block, too. While MIDI Learn in Live works really well, I can’t create an automap without a variety of hacks and compromises. I made a map using some of these compromises for the Ohm64, using Mackie control emulation: http://blog.lividinstruments.com/2010/03/23/ohm64-auto-map-in-live/. I’ll be working on some more sophisticated hacks next month for Live.
Ahhh damn. What about me using block editor, or Block Editor to map the block for say, effects in ableton on certain parts of the block?

peter i go to download this and well…nothing happens.
The link points to http://lividserver.com/dl/ohm/TraktorProMap.zip and works fine here. If your computer automatically unzips it, it will create a folder called “TraktorProMap” with a .tsi file, .pdf file, and a .png file in it.
i even pasted it in my browser and it takes me nowhere. i’m on a 2.4 unibody mb pro w/ safari. dunno what gives. can u drop the zip in my inbox: blcktrsh@me.com?
thanks
Trying to import the downloaded tsi file. Do it the same way as you show in the tutorial. But inside the Traktors.. seems like the tsi file is empty. Going crazy here cause wanted to use it for a gig tonite. Is there a preset or something i missed inside the Traktor ? Or do i need to reset the Ohm64 ?
I downloaded the file, imported into traktor but all the mappings are wrong!? deleted all my previous mappings just in case they were interfering but no change. Help! As I’ve made previous own settings and had this problem with the ohm before after a couple of weeks. I don’t want to start from scratch again! Would be nice to click and play!
really would like to get my hands on your tractor pro controller. please send me details and prices thanx
You can order right from our site lividshop.com
bobby:is the Ohm64 set to factory default settings?
Ah yeh! Knew I was being a tit somewhere along the long. Many thanks Peter. I’m off to annoy the neighbours!
*line.
In the same boat as longhuan
Downloaded the tsi file, but when I open it in traktor pro it seems it is empty, there are no mappings down and in the device drop down box it says none, I go to select ohm64: four decks (quad) (name of the map in the drop down menu) and still the map is empty.
Please help, need this to work very soon.
Cheers
Bhok: is with with Traktor Pro or Traktor Scratch Pro?
Originally with scratch,
But trying it on traktor pro and the same thing happens.
I emailed NI support this morning, and got a reply this afternoon:
“The .tsi will work for all versions of Traktor including the scratch. I imported
the file and had no problems with it. MAybe the users forget to check the box
Controller mappings when importing the file.”
Definately haven’t forgot to do that,
This is strange.
Yeah, is strange all right. I’d recommend contacting NI via their support form. Of course, you need to be a registered user:

I wish I had a better answer, but it doesn’t seem to be a result of the files I’m providing…
Hmm, I was indeed hoping that wouldn’t be the case.
I’ll find a way.
I have tried to download and import other .tsi files and am not having the same problem, which leads me to believe that it may not be just to do with my version of traktor.
Ok. For what it is worth, I just downloaded and installed Traktor Pro demo on a Windows 7 machine, and the settings file loaded fine.
guys, did you try to open the -.tsi-file with the tsi-viewer on the traktorbible site?
just to make sure, where to search next.
Same problem with the tsi. file and Traktor Scratch Pro.
Anyone has any ideas? Has anyone solved this problem?!
Thank you
Again, I’d recommend contacting NI’s support.
Hello. I downloaded these files (I needed the PC ones) and imported them. IT took me a while to get the in port working… Whenever I would click on cue or loop or whatever the correct lights would come on the Ohm, but it wouldn’t work from the controller to traktor. I futz around with a bit and eventually got it to work, but every time I shut down my computer this happens again, and I am getting frustrated. Sometimes it asks me what i want to import (like the check list thing) and other times it does not. I have also modified a few of the controls, but even the original ones I downloaded have this problem. IF there are any setting I need to be aware of please let me know, because I’ve gotten it to work every time if i try hard enough. It just takes like 15 minutes.
Just wanted to follow up. I believe that this is a windows 7 problem. I think that Windows 7 has a hard time reading a USB input, and it is very picky about when it recognizes them. The files are great, thank you very much!
Hi,
I’m having the same problem as Bhok and others, tsi file appears empty. TSI viewer doesn’t work for OS X… and i’m assuming that the file was made with traktor 1.2 to further complicate things.
Has anyone spoken with NI and solved this? I’ve just gotten both Traktor and my Ohm64, so it’s been a little frustrating trying to manually map the same controls as the tsi file. Is it possible that you could post a txt file containing each of the assignments so I could go through and do it manually?
Thanks!
does this map only work for traktor pro? Ive got the ol dj studio 3, and there is no controller manager…how do i upload the map?
Hi,I´m trying to set my livid ohm 64 with traktor pro,but it doesn´t import the tsi file,….
i have a mac ,…i´m doing everything like on the video, but when i import the tsi,
the device section always jumps back to generic keyboard, and when i change it to ohm 64 :four decks (quad)….,the assignment table gets blank, and i can´t do anything.
Please help me
Hey Gergely,
Others have had this problem, and it confounds me, since it works no matter what I try! I contacted NI support, and they loaded it successfully. You could contact their support, and try to figure out the problem.
Another TSI to try soon?
Loving Traktor and the Ohm64 – I’ve found the experience DJ’ing with it to be a cool compliment and catalyst to my production of remixes (using ableton). While Dj’ing w/Traktor I’ll find a Master loop created by mixing 4 loops together – 1 loop loaded into each of the 4 decks…
simple example
deck A.)Looping Beat
deck B.)Looping Bassline
deck C.)Acapella Vocal
deck D.)Acapella Chorus
From messing around and jamming with a simple format like this I’ll discover cool remixes or reworks and then move the 4 loops used over to Ableton and turn the 4 loop mix into the 20+ tracks used to finish a remix.
It’s been a wicked catalyst for me to discover/create stems that I use for final remixes and the Ohm plays an integral role.
With all the buttons/knobs/faders avail to be assigned I’ve created an intuitive and natural way (for me) to control Traktor and the effects. Very interested to see how others feel as I’ve been tweaking this control layout since last October – I’ll post my .TSI soon – I need to finish the diagram image with definitions, ugh
stay tuned
Mitch,
This sounds awesome! Glad it is working out well for you. If you want a .ai file or .png file that would help make the diagram easier, hit me up via email – pete at lividinstruments . com
Hi,is there a mapping for traktor 2?
The mapping for tr.1 works also on tr. 2 but there are some little differences, and when i move the x fader to the left ,the auto x fader to the right is activated and it just pulls over to the right.do you know, how i could fix that???
