how difficult would it be to make some of the touch screens available function as an XY pad with the builder brain? I know an XY is just two analog parameters, but I don't know if it would require anything beyond figuring the right way to wire it to the brain...

Hi guys, so I'm trying to run my block through ableton as a monome but having trouble. I'm trying use Molar with monomeBridge. I feel like im missing a step or something, the block is sending midi to live and the leds work in monome bridge test mode. However, the block has no effect on the Molar vst.

I've been searching online for hours and can't find any comprehensive tutorials or guides to using this software in ableton. I just want to do exactly what ONE4ALL does in this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWGMUegKuiE

If anyone could show me a step by step how this is done or at least direct me to a tutorial, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!
I´d like to have one function on a fader when I´m just using the fader and make it do something else when I hold down f.ex. the Livid ninjabutton.

Is it possible to do this kind of combination of mappings in Live?

Guess this is a Live question, but my Ohm 64 would so like to know!

Thanks:)

Mike from http://max4live.info/ has created a remote script for Ableton Live and the block controller. This lets you use the Ohm64 in live as a control surface, no mapping required! It also gives you access to the "red box". This is the first beta, so there are a few known issues. One being that launching scenes doesn't work right. But this is super awesome so I wanted to share for you to test.

- Top left 8 knobs automapped to device racks
- 7 knobs above faders automapped to pans
- 7 sliders automapped to 7 tracks
- 7 buttons under faders select track
- left button next to crossfader solos currently selected track
- right button next to crossfader record enables selected track
- F4=Global start, F5=Global stop
- F6=Move Box up, F3=Move Box Down, F1=Move nox left, F2=Move Box Right
- First seven columns of button grid launch clips, last column launches
scenes

Download the script here http://lividindustry.com/dl/Ohm640.863.zip

Where it needs to go
MAC - Right click on the Live App icon and put the Ohm64 folder in Contents/App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts
Windows > C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live <your version here>\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts

When you open live go to the preferences and select Ohm64 in the control surface preferences, and the input/output prefs.

Give it a whirl and let us know what you think! Block coming soon too.

Hey all,

I recently got a Block, which I am loving! No problems whatsoever with using the defaults, including the patches like LividStep and LividLights, but once I started making some presets, I did notice the following issue:

Neither BlockEditor v.1.14 nor version 1.11 seem to be able to store LED preset information. When I make preset assignments with the editor, I am able to change between both MIDI and LED preset banks with the assigned buttons. However, when the BlockEditor is closed, the information for MIDI presets is retained perfectly after re-opening the application, while on the other hand the LED presets are completely lost.

Is there not yet functionality to save LED presets along with the MIDI ones? Am I forgetting something? Any assistance would be most appreciated!

For what it's worth, I should also mention that all presets are set to be toggled with the same two buttons, the "Omni" setting is turned on, while I have left Local control off.

Thanks in advance for any help -- and to everyone at Livid for their great work -- really looking forward to being a member of this community!

- Luke

Got my OHM 64 a month ago. Really like it and everything was going great. A week ago I was playing around in CellDNA, the program froze. After I restarted my computer a million times and replugged the controller, it isn´t working the same. Since then every time I plug the controller to my computer (Mac OS X) the controller light up and has the same button (that I was playing the clip when the CellDNA froze) with the light still on. And I can´t get the controller to work. I can control everything using the keyboard on my computer and the lights on the OHM64 goes on when I do that... but I seem not to be able to get any response in CellDNA when I use the controller itself... and none of the lights go on when I push the buttons.

Also another thing i couldn´t figure out at a time. Before all this happened. That was trying to get the controller to show me the last five buttons I had clicked... but not just the one I was using.

I've been doing a lot of cleaning up on Cell and CellDNA. There are new builds (no installers, you can just unzip and put in the Applications folder on your system. Mac users - be sure to keep the .app file in a folder in your Applications folder. Annoying but true!)
Highlights of what's new:
Larger animated Previews and a larger caption interface (for DNA). I've broken out the automap for Ohm64 and block into a text file that is read at application start, so if you want to customize it, you can. It's not really "supported" as I haven't documented it, but I'll post some guides on what it's about.
I also made the fonts menu for captions editable, so you can reduce it to a smaller set of desired fonts.
TopMask Extra lets you mask out portions of your output for non-rectangular output.

http://lividserver.com/dl/cell/Cell_204b06-OSX.zip
http://lividserver.com/dl/cell/CellDNA_204b06-OSX.zip
http://lividserver.com/dl/cell/Cell_v204b06-WIN.zip
http://lividserver.com/dl/cell/CellDNA_v204b06-WIN.zip

LOG of notable fixes and changes:
• Fixed cursor on windows when dragging from Browser to grid.
• Fixed automap on/off
• Made automap user editable (well, accessible, at least - it's not obvious how to edit!). The ohmmap and blockmap.txt files are located in the .app package/Contents/ (OSX) or in CellDNA/support (WIN).
• Scripted extras are hidden from patch view
• Save with media is java-free
• Fixed "New" file problems
• Added "TopMask" extra for masking final output for non-rectangular screens
• Fixed "Network" extra
• Fixed Manual link
• Fixed and made cut, copy, paste key commands more useful for Clip Grid
• Added tabs to browser area for previews and captions
• Meshtronic effect fixed for uyvy colormode. finally!
• Slow/fast for automap fixed.
• Leds for automap fixed
• Previews made more useful
• Captions: font menu has a "backdoor" for editiing and reducing list to important fonts: you can use the fonts_complete.txt file, copy it, name it "fonts.txt" and delete fonts you don't want. This file is located in C:/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/Livid/CellDNA/Defaults (W7), HardDrive:/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Livid/CellDNA/Defaults (OSX), and whatever the %APPDATA% folder is on XP. Look it up, if you care!
• Captions in DNA have more controls, including reading a text file and selecting line by line.
• Missing files in clipbank correctly populate with gray when bank thumbnails are rebuilt.
• Added "resetall" easter egg for More_Controls bright, cont, sat, so you can automap it to something like changing a line in ohmmap.txt or blockmap.txt: "74 More_Controls.maxpat::resetall"
• Made Ohm and block detection more reliable.

Please note any problems. If something really goes wrong, post the contents of the status window:
http://blog.lividinstruments.com/forum/topic.php?id=69
(you'll need to explicity select "copy" from the File menu, since cmd-C now copies a movie in the grid)

John Hanson on "Brain Matrix LED Problem"

I have a 2x2 led matrix setup on the Brain. Pin 1 of Brain JP2 goes thru 100 ohm resistor to LED1 / LED3 positive (row 1), Brain pin 9 to LED 1 / LED2 neg.(col 1). Pin 2 of brain thru 100 ohm is row 2, pin 10 is col 2. This is on the small keypad.
Every time I run hardware config and enable 2 column bits (i.e. 9 start col, 2 bits) I notice that brain jp2 column pins 9 and 10 go from floating to a 2 ms 0 to +5 pulse and all my keys work. If I lite up row 1 and 2 and send it to brain, jp2 pins 1 and 2 go to +5 and all 4 leds come on due to low pulses from column pins 9 and 10. Interestingly, my key board rows 1 and 2 no longer send midi and the leds stay on bright.. I can turn on different LEDs depending on row /col enabled, but they just stay on and key rows 1 and 2 are dead.
I am stumped - the only clue I have is that the 'LED Maps' I pull up does not look like manual - all values are blank.
Is this a software issue? How can I enable matrix led without killing rows of keys? Why does the 'row' LED act as +5 source when the manual sez the 'column' pin supplies +5?
Thanks!
